Research, Education, and Clinical Trials
The Rheumatology Health Team collaborates closely with the Geriatric Research in Aging Sciences (GERAS) and the Ontario Best Practices Research Initiative (OBRI) to advance research and improve the care for patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions. These partnerships support evidence-based practices and contribute to ongoing innovation in clinical care for older adults and those living with chronic disease.
In addition, the team is an affiliated teaching site for McMaster University, providing hands-on clinical training and mentorship for medical students, residents, and rheumatology fellows, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.
As an active clinical trial site, we periodically screen patients for eligibility in innovative research initiatives. These trials play a vital role in advancing and transforming the care of individuals living with rheumatic diseases, offering access to emerging therapies and helping shape the future of treatment.
